Sojat, once a humble village hamlet, is today a thriving small town in the Marwar region (erstwhile Jodhpur Empire). Located at the start of the Thar desert on the banks of the Sukri River in Pali District, Rajasthan, it has been celebrated in Ayurveda texts as Tamravati Nagri—the land of coloring plants. Blessed with the perfect climate and soil, Sojat is an epicenter for Henna and Cumin. Families from farming communities have been engaged for generations in cultivating, processing, and promoting Lawsonia Inermis (Henna).
